SCOTTISH HERALDRY
Scottish Heraldry is as unique as the Scottish Clans themselves. In a Clan Structure which often focused on the Chief of each Clan rather than the individuals within a Clan, only the Chief of the Clan was allowed to carry a Coat of Arms and the members of the Clan were expected to follow the Chieftain's banner. This was one way for the Clan Chieftain to maintain power while also maintaining the unity of the Clan itself.
This means that there may be no individual Coat of Arms granted for many family names of Scottish origin, as they were considered to be listed under, or associated with, a certain Clan. Some Clans have dozens of individual family lines associated with them, while other Clans have only a few. Sometimes they are similar in name, such as CARR, KER and KERMATH for Clan KERR. Other times the names are completely unconnected, such as HAWSON, ISAAC, KELLAR and CONACHIE for Clan CAMPBELL.
We use several reference sources for researching Scottish Arms, including Burke's General Armory, The Scottish Clan & Family Encyclopedia, and The Council of Scottish Clans and Associations, Inc.

HAND PAINTED METAL SHIELDS
Each metal shield is handcrafted from 18-gauge cold-rolled steel, then powder coated to help prevent rust. Every design element is then painted by hand following the original heraldic designs and images, using modern sign enamels that prevent colour fading. Every Hand Painted Metal Shield comes complete with the ridged and riveted edge in metallic silver and two welded metal hooks and a chain for easy display. You may choose to have the Clan Coat of Arms on your shield. (Shield of the Chief of the Clan -- 1st photo) OR you may choose the Clan Crest on your shield with the Clan Motto on the belt surrounding the Crest (2nd photo) OR you may choose to have the Full Grant of Arms on your shield.
